Sports icon Akwasi Frimpong bags special MTN Award

Sports icon Akwasi Frimpong is pictured with his publicist Oral Ofori after bagging the Special Award at the 44th MTN SWAG Awards.

The MTN gala was held in Accra on May 11, 2019.

The 33-year-old, who is training to compete in the next Winter Olympic Games in China (4-20 February 2022), is working on a new project to help other young Ghanaians to learn how to compete in the winter sports. The project is called – The Hope Of a Billion.

“My vision is to train more Ghanaian athletes to know the sports and grow them to become future Olympic medal hopefuls,” he said.

Akwasi is currently ranked 67th in the world and hopes to be among the top 10 in three years’ time. Read more about his story here:
